RULES BYGDØY BROOMSTACKING 23

General rules

• Each game is played over 6 ends
• Every team is guaranteed 4 games
• Every team is guaranteed minimum one game at Bygdøy.
• 3 points for winning a group game / 2 points for a win with the "Roffe Method" / 1 point loosing on Roffe method
• The team first on the scorecards plays with dark colours.
• The curlers measures stones themselves for any stones in dispute.
• If you are run out of stones, or do not have the chance to win the game, the match is over.
• Example: If one team leads 9-0 after 5 ends of play.
• Make sure to be ready minimum 15 minutes before the games scheduled
• WCF rules (except - no tick shot. )
• No hair brushes
  

Extra ends - Special rule

If extra end in group stage and until 1/8 finals - we will use "The Roffe Method" which means you play a extra end with only four stones. The team that should have the hammer in the extra end, get to choose if they want to play stone 1 and 4, or stone 2 and 3. Then you play as «normal» with your team, you can choose free who sends the stones. If its a blank end after the extra end the team without the hammer wins.

Draws & Draw to the button competition

• This is to decide who gets the hammer in the first end.
• Each team get one practice stone, and then a draw to the button.
• The team first on the scorecard makes the first practice stone/draw.
• The teams decide them selves which player who are throwing the stones.
• Both teams can choose their prefered hand clockwise or anti-clockwise.
• Do not remove the stone from play before the opposite team has "measured" the stone.
• In the draw competition we count points, but for the hammer in the game the closest to the pin wins. So make sure you agree.
• If no one is in the house, spin the stone to decide, but remember to write down the scores form the draws.
• The draws are scored from 0 to 5 points and must be written down on the scorecard.

• If its not written down on the scorecard, or the scorecard is not delivered to the secretary - Both teams will get zero points.

• The draws will be a decider - if teams have the same amount of points in the group games and for seeding to 1/16 finals / 1/8 finals (for the best number 2 teams)

• 0 Points if the stone is not in the house

• 1 point for biting the 12 foot

• 2 points for biting the 8 foot

• 3 points for biting the 4 foot

• 4 points for biting the 1 foot

• 5 points for covering the button

*The winner of the draw tournament in total wins 1000 NOK!, and must be used in the bar on the banquet! *

How is the teams ranked after the group stage?

1. The teams with Most Points
2. Head to head (inside the group)
3. Draws (0-15 points)
   
4. Stone score difference

When comparing teams from different groups.

How is the seeding done?

The teams are ranked by world ranking - Results in national and regional leagues and by reputation/expectations. We have also made sure there is one or two Bygdøy teams in each group, and that the foreign teams are in different groups. We have also tried to arrange that everybody gets to play at least one game at Bygdøy. There is a couple of exceptions by practical reasons for organizers.

There is 6 groups. Number 1 and the best two teams ranked as number 2 will advance straight to the 1/8 finals. The rest of the field will play 1/16 finals. The remaining number two teams will meet the lowest ranked number four teams and some games will be between number 3 and 4 th teams and 3 vs 3 based on points and draws.

Some teams will need to travel between Snarøya and Bygdøy between the groupstage match and the 1/16 finals. No teams will travel between 1/16 finals and 1/8 finals.

SUNDAY FINAL PLAYOFFS

Quarterfinals - Semis and Finals will all be played at Bygdøy Curling Club on Sunday. From the quarter finals we will play with a normal extra end if its a tie. If its a tie after the extra end, a draw to the button will decide.

PRICE MONEY

1. place 10.000 NOK,- 2.place 6000 NOK,- 3..Place 4000 NOK,-

Winner of the draw Tournament 1000 NOK that must be used in the banquet

General rules and etiquette

The winning team buys the losing team a drink - this is important! If there is no time straight after the game, then later!

This is a social event. Be kind to everybody, Be a good winner and an good loser. . This is not the world cup. Its a social, bonspiel were we celebrate the true spirit of curling.

NB Our Schedule is quite tight, so make sure to be ready minimum 15 minutes before the games scheduled. If possible we will like to start the games as soon as possible if the sheet is free, the ice and the teams are ready. If a team is not on place in time they will loose the first end by two points.
