RULES
The Tournament is played under the World Curling Federation Rules of Curling and Rules of Competition Booklet October 2019 and with the below modifications.
The first named team will play the red coloured handled stones. In the post Round Robin games, the rock colour will be assigned by the officials.
Before the first Round Robin game each member of the team will play a practice shot and then two payers make a draw shot for the button, one in turn and one out turn, to determine the last stone at the first end. The team throwing the red coloured handled stones will throw first. At the conclusion of each game two member of each team will play a draw shot for the button, one in turn and one out turn, to determine the last stone at the first end of the following match if required. To have the same number of shots, the teams in the groups of four teams will make the DSC following their last matches. The team without hammer will draw first and normal sweeping rules will apply. The sum of the seven best shots will be used for ranking of the teams. The last shot will only be used to separate teams with equal results. All members of the team must make one in turn and one out turn shot before anyone may make a third one.
All games will be 8 ends with extra ends if necessary. In the round robin games only one extra end will be played. If there is no score in this end a Draw Shot Challenge will be played where one member of each team will play to the button with the winner being the team with the shorter measurable distance from the centre. The team without hammer will draw first.
The teams will play a Round Robin in groups. The number of wins and internal results will decide the ranking in each group. If unable to separate teams using this method the above draw shot results will be used for ranking. In the quarter finals, semi-finals and the finals the team with the higher ranking will have the last stone at the first end.
The boys' teams will play a Round Robin in two groups of five and one group of four teams. The first and second ranked teams in each group will qualify directly to the quarter finals together with the third ranked team with the best DSC result. The final quarter final place will be decided by a challenge game between the other third ranked teams. Using the DSC results only the winning teams from each group will be ranked 1-3, the second placed teams 4-6 and the third placed teams 7 and 8. In the quarterfinals the highest ranked team will play the lowest ranked team and so on, but, if possible, in a way that two teams from the same group will not play each other. The winning teams from the games including the teams ranked 1 and 4 make one semi-final, and the winners of the games including the teams ranked 2 and 3 make the other.
The girls' teams will play a Round Robin in one group of five and one group of four teams. The first ranked teams in each group will qualify directly to the semi-finals. The second ranked team in one group will play the third ranked team from the other group. If not both third ranked teams win their games, the winning teams from the games including the second ranked team from one group will play the first ranked team from the other group.
One coach intervention of one minute will be allowed during the first eight ends, and one more in case of an extra end. Both team coaches may go down to meet with their teams during time outs. There will be no breaks between fourth and fifth end or before extra ends.
